Burroughs Wellcome Fellowship
The Climate & Health Communications & Research program at the University of Massachusetts Boston, in collaboration with The Conversation, is offering four fellowships for journalists and communications professionals.
Fellows will lead 6 workshops in which they will train scientists and researchers in science communications as well as the various stages of connecting with news media in the process of publishing a new study. Activities will include discussions of best practices in producing a press release, the news cycle and its deadlines, what should be included in a media kit, how to set an embargo date, and other essential steps involved in interactions with journalists and news outlets. Fellows will also research and discuss the latest trends in public misinformation (and disinformation), with a specific focus on climate and health news.
Each fellow will be compensated $5,000 and workshops can be delivered in person or remotely.
Fellows can choose either a fall or spring fellowship term:
October 1st to December 31st (fall 2023)
February 1st to May 30th (spring 2024)
